Nigel A. Brown. Born in Nelson, New Zealand, has had a successful career in Marine Engineering, both locally and internationally.

Starting as an Automotive Engineer in Nelson, Nigel completed his Advanced Trade Certificate (A-Grade), after which he specialised in the Marine Engineering field.

Spending thirteen years as a sea-going Marine Engineer, (Sealord) Nigel worked on Deep Sea Fishing vessels and then on private Yachts.

Being qualified as a Marine Engineer with a MCA Class 3 Y1 Licence, Nigel spent a further eleven years working overseas on Super Yachts.

With twelve Atlantic Crossings, his job took him to places like America, Mediterranean, Baltic, Caribbean and South Africa, including a 2 month over land trip in Africa.

This was an amazing opportunity to see other parts of the world and work on very high end Yachts ranging from 36 to 96 meters. Totaling over 2500 sea days.

It was in his role as a Marine Engineer working on Yachts that Nigel first experienced the benefits of Non-Destructive Testing.

Thinking back over 25 years in the Marine industry the number of times problems and breakdowns could have been prevented if you could have only known.

He completed training in NDT in the United States before setting up the company I SPY Limited with top of the line equipment in his home town Nelson.
